Shreya Ghoshal is an established industry singer and has recorded in various regional languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Kannada, and Gujarati. She is one of the most awarded Bollywood playback singers in recent times, with 4 National Awards and 4 Filmfare Awards to her credit. From the age of four Ghoshal accompanied her mother on the harmonium. Her parents enrolled her for formal training in Hindustani classical music in Kota with Maheshchandra Sharma. As a child she won the children's special episode of the Sa Re Ga Ma (now Sa Re Ga Ma Pa) contest on Zee TV. She caught the attention of film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali when she participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for a second time, this time competing against adults. In 2000, he offered her the opportunity to be the voice of Paro, the lead female character of his film Devdas, who was to be portrayed by Aishwarya Rai. Shreya sang five songs under the music direction of Ismail Darbar in the film. Moviegoers from across the world heard Ghoshal's singing voice pictured on Aishwarya Rai, and she quickly became one of the top female playback singers in Bollywood. Shreya received Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback singer for voice in Bollywood hit movie Devdas. Since Devdas, she went on to sing for many other actresses under the baton of various music directors, including AR.Rahman, Anu Malik, Himesh Reshammiya, Mani Sharma, Nadeem-Shravan, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Pritam, and Vishal-Shekhar. She enjoys Symphony and instrumental in western music and her favorite group is ABBA. But Indian music is definitely her soul. Her voice has a texture that suits romantic songs and she can project voice very well (a fine example is "Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai " from Jism).
Shreya Ghoshal is the only playback singer to have been nominated in 4 out of the 5 nominations for the best playback singer for her songs in 2007 in IIFA 2008. She won the best female playback singer Filmfare award 2009 and IIFA 2009 for her performance in Pritam's song "Teri Ore" from Singh is Kinng. She is only singer to get four national awards at the age of 26 in the Hindi film industry. Her latest song in Malayalam "Anuraga Vilochananayi" from the movie "Neelathamara" is a super hit.
Aatif Aslam is a Pakistani pop singer. He used to sing at the college canteen when his friends urged him to participate in the singing competition on Independence Day celebrations at PAF College Lahore in 1998. He performed there and won the competition. Thereafter, he also won several other college competitions. Today Aatif Aslam is widely recognized in South Asia and has several hit songs such as Aadat, Woh Lamhe, Tere Bin, Pehli Nazar Mein, Tera hone Laga Hoon, Tu Jaane Na and Meri Kahani from many recent hit movies including Zeher, Race, Kalyug, Kismat Konnection, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahan. He is known for his powerful vocal belting technique. In 2006, Aatif Aslam won Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer for Woh Lamhe song in Zaher film.
Aatif's song WOH LAMHEY which he sang for the Bollywood movie "Zeher" in 2005 is being considered among the ten best ever green songs of the Bollywood industry doing a business of One million Dollar plus only in India in terms of sales. This song opened the doors of Bollywood for Aatif and he is now one of the few singers of Pakistan who are doing play back singing in Bollywood. His 2nd song in Bollywood "Aadat" made people addicted to his voice in the biggest nation of the world. Third song "Teray Bin" is also being considered as one of the most touching and heart melting numbers of the year 2006.
Performing live is the real test of any singer and people believe that Aatif is one of the best live singers in Pakistan. Aatif has done hundreds of live shows with local as well as international artists all over the globe for a lot of brands. One of the most rare distinctions which Aatif earned for Pakistan was that his 3 songs" Aaadat, Ehsaas and Yakeen were included in a Hollywood art movie" MAN PUSH CART". The movie got tremendous response in international film festivals and won FEPRISKI award in Europe.
