Congratulations UofA Om Shanti Team!

On February 6, 2010, the University of Arizona's Bollywood dance team, "Om Shanti," competed in the most competitive Bollywood Dance Competition in the nation. Out of the eight teams that were present, Om Shanti placed second in the nation, winning a $1,250 cash prize, in addition to gaining the respect of the Bollywood dance community. The teams that competed were from all around the nation. They consisted of UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, USC, UCSD, UCLA, UIUC, Stanford, and U of A. The competition was at its best with all eight teams bringing their best performers and productions ever. UC Berkeley was crowned champions and UC Irvine came in third. This was Om Shanti's first year in a competition to this magnitude. Om Shanti is now the second best Bollywood dance team in the nation, in addition to being the most successful first year team in the history of national Bollywood dance competitions. The members of the team are: Kavya Giridharan, Neha Giridharan, Puja Patel, Ruchi Seth, Sarah Anand , Sharadhi Gadagkar, Molly Rao, Akila Prasad, Harlean Ahuja, Palna Patel, Geoff Wainwright, Abhishek Gulati , Sanjay Krishnamurthy, Ashkan Alkhamisi, Alex Roelens, Viveck Punjabi, Ravi Patel, Krishna Israni, Vijay Ojha, and Nikhil Handyal.
